Hotel Playa Terreros is a two-star property on Calle Bailén 4, in San Juan de los Terreros, part of the municipality of Pulpí in the province of Almería.

It is a small hotel of 17 double rooms across two floors, geared to beach stays. There is no entertainment programme or organised activities.

The pieces in the hall are by Manuel Hervás Navarro, an artist from Macael (Almería): faces modelled by hand in cement and cork, and a suspended sculpture that recalls the beach.

Arrival

Arrive at any hour: your key is waiting

Reception is staffed 08:00 – 16:00, and there is no latest arrival time. Check-in is done online before you travel, or on the tablet by the entrance, available 24 hours. Rooms open with a real key, which you pick up from a numbered box: there is no card and no keypad on the door.

  • 1 · Check in, before or on arrivalAfter booking you receive an email with a link to check in from home, which is the easiest way. If you would rather not, or the email is not to hand, the tablet by the entrance does exactly the same thing, at any hour of the day or night.
  • 2 · Details for everyone stayingOne form per guest: Spanish law requires the details of everyone staying, not just whoever booked. On the tablet you can scan your ID or passport with the camera to go faster.
  • 3 · Sign, and the code arrivesYou accept the terms and sign with your finger, as you would at the desk. If the room is ready, the code for your key box appears there and then; either way we email it to you.
  • 4 · Take the key from its boxBy the entrance, next to reception, there is a wall of boxes, one per room. Find the one with your room number, enter the code, pull it down and take the key out. Close the box; the key is yours for the whole stay.

If the room is still being cleaned when you check in, the code is not released yet: your details are already saved and it reaches you by email as soon as the room is ready. And if anything goes wrong, reception is one call away on 923 72 04 84.

How your stay works

These are the rules that apply at the hotel. Worth knowing before you book, as some carry a charge.

Access and quiet hours

  • Self check-in, 24 hoursReception is staffed 08:00 – 16:00. At any other time you check in yourself on the tablet by the entrance, and it gives you the code to your key box. You can come and go at any hour.
  • A real keyRooms open with a key, not a card or a keypad. You collect it from the numbered key box for your room, by the entrance, using the code we give you. A lost key carries a €45 charge.
  • Daily housekeeping11:00 – 15:00. Hang the "Do not disturb" sign if you would rather skip the service.
  • Quiet hoursFrom midnight in the shared areas.
  • VisitorsAllowed, but they may not use the pool.

Using the room

  • No smokingSmoking indoors carries a charge equivalent to two nights, to cover disinfection and odour removal.
  • No petsAnywhere on the property.
  • Care of the roomMisuse of furniture or bed linen, or hosting unregistered guests, may lead to additional charges. Difficult stains such as wine may involve a cleaning or replacement charge.
  • Drinks in shared areasAlcohol not purchased at the hotel café may not be consumed in the shared areas.

  • Is the pool open all year?Yes. It is an outdoor pool and it is open all year, 08:00 – 22:00. Capacity is 15 and you do not need to reserve a lounger.
  • Can I arrive late?Yes, at any hour and with no need to warn us. Reception is staffed 08:00 – 16:00; outside those hours you check in yourself on the tablet by the entrance, which works 24 hours and gives you the code to the box holding your room key.
  • How do I get the key if I arrive in the middle of the night?By the entrance, next to reception, there is a wall of boxes, one per room. Enter the code we give you when you finish checking in (on the tablet and by email) into your box, pull it down, and your room key is inside.
  • Is there a restaurant at the hotel?The hotel has a café; breakfast is not served in autumn and winter and is back in spring. For lunch and dinner, the village has restaurants a few minutes away on foot.
  • What is there to do if the weather turns?The Pulpí Geode, eleven minutes away by car, is an indoor visit that works in any weather. Águilas, ten minutes away, has a town centre, a harbour and museums.
